The National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors
Welcome

Welcome to the web site of Carolina Chapter #17 of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, Inc. (NAWCC), a nonprofit and scientific corporation founded in 1943 and now serving the horological interests of more than 23,000 members around the world. The Association sponsors a National Convention and Mart every year in a different part of the country, drawing several thousand members. The National Association is headquartered in Columbia, Pa.

The Carolina Chapter held its first meeting in 1958. The goals of Chapter 17 are:
  • To stimulate interest in timepieces of all kinds;
  • To foster genuine interest in collecting timepieces;
  • To facilitate the sale or purchases of timepieces by members;
  • To cooperate with other individuals and with other organizations in exhibiting timepieces;
  • To collect and preserve horological data and material for posterity;
  • To disseminate full information regarding the mechanism of timepieces and the repair thereof.
Chapter 17 is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008. Read the story of the first meeting back in 1958.

Chapter 17 received an award in 2005 for membership recruitment, and was recognized in 2006 for its financial gift to the National Association.

Meetings

Meetings and Marts are normally held on the second Sunday of the odd months throughout the year at the Holiday Inn on Jake Alexander Blvd in Salisbury. Marts are limited to members and prospective members. See Membership for more information.

At a typical meeting, the doors open at 8:30am with the mart in which members display, buy, and sell clocks, watches, tools, books, and other horological materials. We have a huge buffet lunch at 11:15am followed by a brief business meeting and a Horological program. During the mart, clock repair and watch repair classes are available for those who want to attend. We also have a ladies program that takes place at 10am.

The Mid-East Regional meeting is held annually in the fall, rotationally hosted by Philadelphia #1, Washington DC #12, Carolina #17, Shenandoah Valley #32, and Old Dominion #34.
