Carolina Chapter 17 was organized in 1957 and held its first formal meeting in 1958 in Charlotte.
Here are the minutes of that first meeting - reprinted from the April, 1957 issue of the Bulletin.

President - G.M. McClancy
Secretary - C.E. Reynolds, Jr

Carolina Chapter has now held its first planned meeting and we have the following to report.

Regular meetings will henceforth be held the second Sunday of each month with Charlotte as headquarters. Upon occasion, however, we will visit other sections of the state with a concentration of members.

The temporary officers as reported before were elected officially for the year by acclamation. Dues were set at $1 per meeting or $10 per year.

At this last meeting Mr. McClancy gave a dissertation on gold leaf application and demonstrated the procedure for rubbing down varnish to obtain an antique finish on clocks.  Mr.

Reynolds gave a short historical sketch on John Harrison and his achievements. Several members displayed unique clocks or movements with Messrs. McKenzie and Hall taking the spotlight. At previous meetings Dr. Jacobs and Messrs. Lance and McClancy had displayed some of their collection. Gen. McCullough, too, had brought down some of his smaller clocks.

Being a new chapter we would be grateful to any ot the other chapters for suggestions as to planning a program and ideas that they have used that might be of interest to our membership. Also, we extend an open invitation to any of the members of NAWCC to visit with us as a chapter or individually should they sojourn to the South.
